Call Rollard wrote:Since todays patch it's happened to me many times, one of which resulted in a ship and capsule loss (Due to no E-Warp apparently 3 mins after).
After playing EVE and being in space for 5 minutes it happens. It's frequent.
The screen suddenly starts making strange black areas flashing then completely crashes, however the applications appear to still all be working. The only result to quit EVE is to force shutdown the computer.
The mouse still moves but clicking anything does nothing.
EVE is completely unplayable like this and this needs to be fixed asap.
Solution I listed has been removed, it changed NOTHING. EVE is still unplayable with these freezes.
Nvidia 9400M 2.53 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 OSX 10.9.1
Same machine, same problem, only that my computer freezes up at the character selection screen. Fingers crossed for tomorrow's patch. |

Yeah the latest patch didn't help.
Are we all using the 9400M graphic card? Mid-
As per mac logins, it won't have dropped because we were logged in, like many of us stated, we could hear the background noise/music but unable to see anything or do anything, it's just froze up.

I have a fix for black-out character selection screen, albeit a temporary and superficial one. Once you reach the blacked character selection screen, try to click on the empty character slot(s), It's easy for me since I only have one character, once you do you will be directed to the character creation screen which is fully functional and visible, after that is just simply cancel your character creation and Voil+á! regular visible character selection screen, and you can go into the game, no problem!! But...
If your character was in a docking station, DO NOT undock, as soon as you do, once the game renders in the textures it will crash. So... well, at least you can get the SP training going.
For the Mac users who can't command + tab your way out of the game try command + control + power button (don't hold down the button), it's the forced restart, wait a bit, it will restart.
For developer: maybe the fact we can see the character creation screen and for some reason also able to correct the blacked out screen has something to do with the bug? Also, back when I was playing Diablo 3, mac NVIDIA 9400m users get much better frame rate when play the game with Boot camp on Windows, when in native apple program is just unplayable. Blizzard patched it up. Could it be the same thing? http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5638004473
I am spitballing because I am desperate. Please help. |

Rudazara wrote:So this is the third thread started about this issue. Obviously you guys are just so frustrated that you haven't bothered to even see if anyone else has this problem and posted a thread about it. Pretty retarted...
But you personally posted in this thread like 4 times already... lol I guess you are speaking from experience, of the frustration of course. |

CCP Snorlax wrote:We have not had any luck in reproing this, but we have a patch going out tomorrow where we have at least an attempted fix.
I've gone through all changes to the graphics engine that went out in the patch that seems to have triggered the black screen on character select, and we're basically reverting those changes when running on a Mac. We're grasping at straws here, but I feel we have to try something.
Reverting should work. My machine and many others like it were running fine before the February 4 patch. Thanks, I sincerely appreciate your help and attention to our plight. |

We're grasping at straws here, but I feel we have to try something. This might be a silly question. But have you tried to repro this in windowed mode instead of full screen? Although the predominate error message that scrolls by is Quote:2/10/14 9:02:46.000 PM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error , one of the errors that rolled by my log screen was, Quote:2/10/14 9:02:46.598 PM Console[504]: setPresentationOptions called with NSApplicationPresentationFullScreen when there is no visible fullscreen window; this call will be ignored. and made me think that perhaps that all of us that are experiencing this are running eve in windowed mode? Just a guess.
because full windowed mode crashes the computer, hence no error log. |
